This is not a walk with samples. Each stop is a full experience at a real local venue — a bar, a trattoria, a gelateria and a café — where we sit down, eat properly and talk about what makes Bolognese food culture so special. All food and drinks at every stop are included in the price.

Stop 1 · Aperitivo

We begin at a local bar for an aperitivo — a tradition deeply rooted in Bolognese daily life. Regional wines, cured meats and the kind of conversation that only happens when you're not rushed.

Stop 2 · Fresh Pasta

A sit-down meal at a neighbourhood trattoria for a plate of handmade pasta. Sfoglina tradition, seasonal ingredients, no shortcuts. This is the Bologna most visitors never find.

Stop 3 · Artisan Gelato

A gelateria that makes everything from scratch with local milk, seasonal fruit and real hazelnuts from Piemonte. No pre-packaged bases, no artificial colours. Choose your flavours.

Stop 4 · Espresso

We end in a historic café for an espresso at the counter — the Bolognese way. A ritual, not just a drink. The perfect close to an afternoon in the city.

Everything you need to know

What is included in the €89 price?

Everything you eat and drink at all four stops is included. The price covers the aperitivo with regional wine, a full plate of fresh pasta with water/wine, a gelato of your choice and an espresso. There are no hidden extras.

Can I book if I have dietary restrictions?

Please let us know when booking. We can accommodate most restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.) — we just need to inform the venues in advance. Some stops may have limited alternatives depending on the season.

How do I get to Piazza Maggiore?

Piazza Maggiore is the main square of Bologna, easily reachable on foot from the train station (15 minutes) or by bus. It's the heart of the city — you can't miss it. We'll confirm the exact meeting point when you book.

Why is the tour only Monday to Friday?

Our venues are real local restaurants and bars — not tourist-facing operators. On weekends they are fully booked with local customers and it's simply not possible to reserve tables at the prices our guests pay. This is the trade-off for authenticity.

Can I book a private tour?

Yes. Write to us at booklikealocal@gmail.com and we'll arrange a private tour for your group. Dates and pricing for private tours are agreed directly.

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable, but we'll do our best to reschedule you if something comes up.

Is this tour suitable for children?

The tour is suitable for older children who enjoy food (12+). It involves about 1.5–2km of walking and approximately 2.5 hours of active tasting. Please get in touch before booking if you're bringing children.
